After working 30 years as a Registered Nurse and ending an 18 year marriage I felt empty and aimless. I traveled both the East and West Coasts; cared for my aging father and finally relocated to Washington State. The only thing I wanted to do was to photograph, to capture in images the meaning of Life and Death experienced by terminal patients in the experimental decades of Bone Marrow Transplant.
My goal is to bring art "down from the walls" into the hands of others in an intimate and practical form of personal communication. The format I have chosen is intentional; an uncaptioned photograph opening to a blank page where the owner can write a personal message giving it the gift of a new life.
All photographs were shot with 35mm film cameras without digital or computer alterations. From over 160,000 photographs taken over the last 20 years I have selected a small percentage for public display.
To emphasize the singularity of each moment in time I have developed only ONE PRINT and WILL NOT DUPLICATE ANY PRINT OR NEGATIVE.
